Photograph of RRS DiscoveryDundee is the fourth largest city in Scotland with a population of 140,000. It is around 79km from the capital, Edinburgh and it has a domestic local airport with connections to London City, Birmingham International and Belfast International airports. Dundee is 80km from Edinburgh Airport, which connects to a much larger number of destinations, and there are good road and rail links between the two cities.

Dundee is second only to Cambridge in terms of the numbers of scientists and researchers based in the city who are working on critical biomedical research and advancement, as well as those at SCRI contributing to important contemporary work on climate change and the investigation of GM crops.

Dundee is also Scotland’s video games capital supplying qualified games developers to 12 companies located in the city.

Dundee’s compact nature and uncongested city centre makes it easy to move around. The conference hotel, located on the city’s waterfront, is within walking distance of shops, restaurants and visitor attractions.

Getting here

Dundee has its own airport just two miles from the city centre which provides a fast and frequent service between Dundee and London City Airport operated by AirFrance as part of its CityJet service. Flybe flies to Belfast City and Birmingham International airports from Dundee.

Dundee is located just over one hour from its nearest international airport at Edinburgh.

Regular trains from Glasgow, Edinburgh, London and other UK cities run to Dundee. Further information can be found on the National Rail Enquiries website.
